Retired teacher takes up role on parish council
A FORMER Sherborne teacher has been selected to serve as a parish councillor.
Retired Gryphon School teacher Clive Laughton has been welcomed as the newest member of Milborne Port Parish Council.
Councillors unanimously voted for Mr Laughton – who is a former design and technology teacher – to become the new member after he was nominated by vice-chairman Martin Ritchie. The Milborne Port resident attended his first meeting on Tuesday, August 20, to sign an acceptance of office.
He also expressed an interest to be placed on the council's open spaces committee.
He said he had a particularly desire to monitor the Gainsborough play area.
Chairman John Farley said: "We were pleased to welcome councillor Laughton to his first meeting."
