Kings of Wessex Academy WILL be closed tomorrow as part of strikes
KINGS of Wessex Academy School has confirmed its closure tomorrow, via a notice on their website.
The following has been posted:
On Thursday 17 October 2013, the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and the National Association of Schoolmaster Union and Women Teachers (NASUWT) will be taking industrial action.
Whilst all efforts are being made to maintain essential services to children and young people; regrettably, the industrial action will mean that The Kings of Wessex Academy will not be open as usual on that day. We are informed that the one day strike action may result in class or whole school closures across the whole region.
The decision to close the Academy or send our students home is never taken lightly. However, in this instance, where staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, we have no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all our students.
We can however, confirm, that the Year 9 Geography trip to the Eden Project will continue as planned.
The Academy will be open as normal for all students on Friday 18 October 2013.
We apologise for the inconvenience that this closure may cause parents and thank parents for their patience and understanding.
