James Hayter well aware of striker competition at Yeovil Town
James Hayter is well aware that there is no room for personal error in Yeovil Town’s first team with players champing at the bit to be involved.
The Glovers’ striker has started all of his new side’s games this season, scoring two and providing a intelligent link with forward partner Reuben Reid and his fellow attackers.
However, the impact of manager Gary Johnson’s substitutes has not gone unnoticed, nor the talents of Reading loanee Gozie Ugwu, who started the campaign as a wide man.
Hayter said: “Gozie is a handful. He came on against Scunthorpe United and scored a couple of goals, which bodes really well. We have good competition for places and if you are not quite right there are good players waiting in the wings to take your place.”

The experienced front man arrived at Huish Park in the summer following his release by Doncaster Rovers.
Having faced his former employers in npower League One last weekend, he now prepares himself to lock horns with AFC Bournemouth today, the club where he made his name in the Football League.
Hayter hailed his burgeoning relationship with Reid, adding Yeovil’s fine early season form came as little surprise to him.
“Reuben is obviously a good player, he has got three goals already and I have got a couple,” he said. “Hopefully we can get up a good understanding and get a few more goals between us.
“We are both team players and the most important thing is getting points and progressing. Whoever scores we are more than happy for each other.
“The way we played in pre-season, we had a good run and showed good form. We scored a good few goals and managed to continue that on into the league form.
“It has not surprised me as such. We have got some really tough games coming up in the league so hopefully we can pick up as many wins as we can and do as well as we can.”
