James Eyers fund smashes its £50k target to aid Dorothy House Hospice
A fund set up in memory of a Frome man who died five years ago has exceeded its target by nearly £5,000.
After James Eyers died in a car accident in March 2007 his family and friends set up a charity memorial fund as a way of celebrating and commemorating his life.

Since then dozens of fundraising events, including marathons, ridden static bikes, held charity auctions, quizzes and raffles, have been organised to raise £50,000 for Dorothy House Hospice. The latest fundraiser is a quiz night and raffle at Frome Rugby Club.
His mother Sue Edwards said: "This year is the fifth anniversary of James's death. We set ourselves a target of raising £50,000 by March 22, 2012, but have already gone way past that total, and are on our way to the £55,000 mark.
"Just before he died, James had been planning to fundraise for Dorothy House by running the Bath Half Marathon, so we decided to raise money for the hospice in his memory.
"Everything we raise goes into the James Eyers Tulip Fund, helping the hospice to care for patients and their families."
The quiz night takes place on Saturday, March 3, at 7.30pm. Numbers are limited so tickets at £16 for a table of four must be booked with Ms Edwards on 07891 960916. The evening will include a raffle for a luxury Harrods hamper.
