Insulating your home will save cash
With summer drawing to a close, it will not be long before householders across the UK are turning up the heat to stay warm.
And, with energy prices increasing, now is the time to insulate, according to the National Insulation Association.

The NIA is advising householders to act now to insulate their properties and take advantage of the current grants and subsidies available towards the cost of insulation before the current Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) scheme ends this December.
Winter fuel bills will soon be arriving and with energy prices increasing it is now more important than ever to insulate and avoid turning up that thermostat. Neil Marshall, chief executive of the NIA, said: "With the cost of fuel bills ever increasing and as much as 60 per cent of a home's heat escaping through uninsulated walls and roofs, householders should take the necessary steps to save energy and money.

"The simplest and most cost-effective method is to insulate the home.
"Cavity wall and loft insulation could save around £310 year on year and both can be installed in less than a day.
"So we urge householders to act now as winter is fast approaching; in many cases the cost of insulating is now free under the CERT scheme which ends this December. Even properties not suitable for cavity wall insulation can still be insulated.
"Solid wall insulation and loft insulation combined can result in even greater savings, at around £635 per year."
The NIA also advises that for peace of mind householders should contact its members for a free quotation and advice on the best type of insulation suitable for the home.
Not only are they qualified installers who are bound by a strict Code of Professional Practice, but they are also able to advise on the range of grants and subsidies available and how to apply.
