Injury time leveller denies Wincanton Town win from even clash
WINCANTON Town were denied three points against Holt United after the visitors scored an equaliser in the 16th minute of injury time.
The hosts had fought back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 at half time in the Magna Dorset Premier League thanks to goals from Mike Taylor and Andy Holmes. But time added on due to a season-ending cruciate ligament injury suffered by Wincanton left back John Ralph allowed Holt to equalise in the dying moments.
Town manager Paul Down was disappointed to drop two points in such a fashion but was not too disheartened after sharing the spoils.
He said: "It was a very even and competitive game, which is what you would expect from two teams at the top, and a draw was probably the right result. At the end of the day we wanted three points but Holt put a lot into the game.

"There was nothing between the sides. Holt are probably a bit better physically than we are but I think we have more flair about us. They stop you playing but we have got more match winners and I hope that will get us more points over the season."
Down explained the team were affected by Ralph's injury during the game and admitted the defender will be difficult to replace.
"John's injury was a big blow for us," he said. "He has been our most consistent player and we are devastated. It definitely had an effect on us – it disrupted us and you never like to see those types of injuries, especially if it is one of your own. He will be a big miss."
SHERBORNE Town Reserves lost 3-1 to Chickerell United whilst Tintinhull triumphed 3-1 at Wareham Rangers.
