Illegal immigrants discovered in swoop at egg producers
FIVE illegal immigrants have been detained after officials swooped on an egg production facility near Wincanton.
They were found by UK Border Agency officials at Landshire Country Foods, off Landshire Lane, Henstridge.

Immigration checks were carried out on the people on the site, including five Indian men who had been sleeping at the facility.
Checks revealed that all five were in the UK illegally – something that could cost the company up to £50,000.

A 20-year-old man was working in breach of the conditions of his student visa, a 24 year old and a 48 year old had overstayed their visas, and a 39 year old and 45 year old were found to have entered the UK illegally.
All five were detained at Weymouth Police Station. They are currently at immigration detention centres and face removal from the UK.
Kenny Chapman, of the UK Border Agency, said: "Our teams are carrying out operations like this across the South West on a regular basis.
"Offenders should know that there is no hiding place and that, where we find people who are in the UK illegally, we will seek to remove them.
"We are also looking to target employers who take on illegal workers and who encourage illegal immigration in the process.
"We're happy to work with businesses to let them know what checks need to be made on staff, but those who choose to break the law should know that they will face heavy fines."
Landshire Country Foods now faces a penalty of up to £50,000 – up to £10,000 for each illegal worker – for employing the men.
To avoid a fine, the employers must provide evidence that the correct right-to-work checks were carried out.
