Ice warning for Somerset roads as winter weather forecast to hit
A severe weather warning for ice has been issued for Somerset tonight as further heavy showers and sub-zero temperatures are forecast.
The county is expected to miss the snow due to fall over parts of the UK tonight, but the Met Office has a yellow warning in place for icy conditions between 9pm tonight and 10am tomorrow morning.

Heavy wintry showers are forecast to fall in the South West tonight and, with temperatures predicted to fall as low as -2 °C, drivers are being warned to expect frosty and icy conditions on the roads overnight and early tomorrow morning.
Eastern England is expected to see the majority of tonight's snowfall, with showers of rain and sleet forecast in other parts.

Met Office chief forecaster Eddy Carroll said: "We expect snow to affect many eastern parts of the UK over the next day or so leading to some disruption.
"With some very low temperatures over the next few nights we also expect ice in many places and people should be prepared for travel problems."
Steve Crosthwaite, head of the Highways Agency's National Traffic Operations Centre, said: "Following advice from the Met Office, we are using salt to treat the road network and have ploughs and snow blowers on standby if necessary.
"Our traffic officers are working around the clock to monitor our road network, deal with any incidents and keep traffic moving.
"During severe winter weather we ask drivers to check road conditions and the weather forecast before setting out.
"If conditions are poor, and journeys are not essential, we advise drivers to think about delaying until conditions improve and allowing our winter fleet the chance to treat the roads."
Somerset County Council's fleet of gritters will be out treating the county's road network from 4.30pm today. Crews are also expected back in at 4.45am tomorrow morning.
After a frosty start to tomorrow, it should be dry and sunny with a maximum temperature of 6 °C.
