Hunters and their hounds turned our village into a race course
It was a bright, sunny day on Saturday, so some friends and I took our children to the local play area situated in Wookey playing field.
Unsurprisingly there were lots of other children on the field playing football and generally enjoying the sun and open space. The fun soon came to an end when four large hounds were spotted running, unsupervised, all over the field, so we gathered the children to a safe area. I'm glad we did this as six people on horseback galloped down the road which runs alongside the public field and past the entrance, and had a child, or adult for that matter, gone out of the field at that moment they wouldn't have stood a chance. I approached the next group of hunters to inform them that their hounds were wandering free in a public play area and they apologised, but ten minutes later the dogs were back again.
I feel furious that our village was turned into a race course and an unsafe place for our children to play on what otherwise would have been a lovely Saturday afternoon, and to add to that; the roads were also left in a filthy, muddy mess.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought this so called 'sport' was illegal.
