Hungry Horse fire: 'Devastated to see flames destroy my birthplace'
A woman who was born in The Bell is among those who have been saddened by the huge fire that engulfed the pub.
Sheila Seymour, 65, was born in the building in 1947.

Her parents Mary and Edwin Jean were its publicans for 19 years until 1966.
She said: “I was called by sister-in-law who told me The Bell was on fire.

“I feel devastated because of all the memories I have with the place.
“We used to have children’s parties and birthdays were always held there.
“My uncle used to have a glider in the garden and we used to climb in it and pretend to be flying.
“With Westlands being nearby you used to get a lot of the workers in.
“I went down to have a look at it and it is such a sorry state. Because I lived there and grew up inside it was my childhood home and that always stays with you.
“I hope they rebuild it because it will be a shame if it goes completely.”
Another couple with a strong attachment to the pub are Peter and Mary Brock.
The couple met there in 1999 when Mary was the manageress and Peter was one of the regulars.
Mrs Brock said: “I worked there for about six months until it was sold to Greene King.
“At the time I was running the pub and Peter was lodging with the boss of the cleaning staff and used to come in regularly. I then moved away but when I returned me and Peter became an item.
“It is terrible to see the pub in such a state. The staff are truly upset and were in tears. The place meant a lot to a lot of people.”
