Crowds poured into Coleford's Holy Trinity Church Hall for their Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning in the village.

Tables were laden with cakes and items for sale while a large raffle with items donated by villagers and businesses was popular too.

Thanking everyone for their support and help organiser Myra Perry said there had been a wonderful turnout. Muffins, bread and cakes had been donated by local companies and those who could not attend had given donations.

Many villagers said they were remembering Bronwyn Makin who worked so hard in the Community Cafe, and who had died of cancer in December.

The youngest supporter there, one-week-old Ethan Pocock, was brought along by his great-grandmother Ruth Hall.

The Community Bingo event last Tuesday raised £65 and the "Name the Doll" challenge continues. But so far more £464 has been raised for the charity.

"This is much more than we raised last year," said a delighted Myra.
