Huge Taunton fire causes A38 closure and rush hour traffic chaos
A fire in a building behind a petrol station in Taunton has caused rush-hour traffic chaos in the town centre this evening.
One man has been treated for smoke inhalation at the scene of the blaze, which broke out in a building on East Reach near the Esso garage at around 4pm this afternoon.

Three fire crews from Taunton and one from Wellington fought the flames, which caused the closure of the A38 in both directions between Haydon Road and Victoria Street.
Fire crews requested an ambulance to treat the casualty, and further assistance from an Ilminster support crew.

The fire is in an outbuilding behind Laundromat on East Reach. The petrol station is closed, but the Tesco Express store remains open. Police are directing traffic.
