A night of jazz, folk and tango is coming to the cricket club, in Winscombe when Ros Cuthbert's DIY jazz restaurant takes place on Saturday.

Virtuoso accordionist Karen Street will performing with Ros, guitarist Jerry Crozier Cole, Will Harris on double bass and Mark Whitlam on drums.

Karen Street studied music at Bath University, Welsh College of Music and Drama and Guildhall School of Music. She became the British Virtuoso Champion in 1981/2.

Performing credits include recording with Ute Lemper, regular performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, The Nash Ensemble, Ice Breaker, Opera North, BBC Philharmonic, the Matrix Ensemble and with Willard White, Martha Wainwright and Grace Jones.

Karen is very active on the jazz scene in the UK.

She is a regular member of Mike Westbrook's group and part of Billy Thompson's Gypsy Style.

With Tim Garland she has worked as part of Lammas and in his Made by Walking project playing alongside Geoff Keeser, Joe Locke and Avishai Cohen.

Last summer she played in the jazz prom with Guy Barker's Jazz orchestra as a soloist alongside Martin Taylor.

Karen has released three CDs – Finally A Beginning, Accordion Crimes and Another Story.

Visitors are invited to bring their own supper for the candlelit club atmosphere.

The DIY part of the evening is the food, which guests are invited to bring as a picnic or takeaway, while using the bar for drinks.

Food, however, is not compulsory.

The concert runs from 8pm to 10.30pm with doors open at 7.30pm.
