Horror smash at Bath and West Showground
A HORROR smash at Bath and West Showground today has hospitalised a man and two boys, according to eye witnesses.
The crash reportedly happened when a Subaru Impreza was racing around the track at the showground as part of Regency Stages Rally.
One eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It started on a corner, there’s a long straight leading into a corner.
“The car came up and you could see it starting to brake. It wasn’t going to stop but tried to take the corner but had grass and it aquaplaned across the grass.

“Although the crowd was probably 20 to 30 metres away from the track the car carried on going its way into a young family, two young lads, eight or nine years old, and their dad.
“I saw the young lads fly up into the air the dad flew over the top of the car and then it came to a stop and the driver was in a bit of a state, psychologically, kicking the car, he was very upset about what had happened.
“It all happened very quickly.
“It was aiming for us but we jumped back. It was a near miss, there were a lot of people there and it’s lucky not more people were hurt.
“The ambulance was really good; it was on site anyway and there within five minutes.
“Seeing those two lads, both little, there were both conscious and nobody was unconscious, it looked like leg injuries. The car has a smashed windscreen; it looked like the dad went over the car.”
