Horacio Agulla is backing Bath to end their miserable run at Welford Road when he comes face-to-face with his old club on Saturday.

The Argentine winger made a summer switch to The Rec from Leicester Tigers, a team who Bath have not enjoyed an away victory over in the Premiership for nine years.

However, after watching from the sidelines as Bath beat champions Harlequins last Friday, Agulla knows there is no better place for his new club to continue their upward curve.

“It will be nice if we can change our record against Leicester and I think we have the players and quality to do it,” said the 28-year-old, who could make his first start for Bath after being restricted to a solitary appearance as a replacement against London Welsh.

“We did really well last week, so the confidence is very good. We have prepared perfectly, so, hopefully, now we can have another good one.

“I’d really like it if I have the opportunity to get my first start against Leicester.

“I have a lot of friends there and my relationship with the club is very good.

“I have a lot of very good memories from my time there. I learned a lot about my rugby, so am really thankful for everything I did there.

“Now I am a Bath player, though, so I want to go up there and get a win. It will be weird going into the other changing room, but I am really looking forward to it, it’s going to be a massive game.”

After spending so much time away from Bath, Agulla is happy to finally settle into his new surroundings following his exploits in the Rugby Championship and autumn internationals.

“It’s good to be back, I had a concussion after the France match, so couldn’t play the last game, but I have fulfilled all the IRB requests, so everything’s good and I am ready to go,” said Agulla.

“You want to settle down and try to stay in one place, but now I can just think about Bath 100 per cent and focus on my rugby here.”
