Residents were evacuated from their homes last night after a vehicle collided into a gas main in Ilminster.

Firefighters, police and ambulance crews were called to Station Road at 10.20pm, along with engineers from Wales and West.

Neighbouring householders were taken to business properties while an inspection to the damage and possible gas leak was carried out.

They were allowed back home later last night after the all-clear was given.
