Firefighters called out to tackle van blaze
POLICE are investigating after a van was stolen from a garage in Wincanton and set on fire.
One fire crew from Wincanton was called to tackle the van, which was ablaze in a field adjacent to the A303 at Dancing Cross, Maperton at 7.35pm on Tuesday.
The fire service said it had received numerous calls about the fire.
Upon arrival the crew confirmed that the van, believed to belong to a conservatory and windows agent, was well alight and burning fiercely.
Firefighters confirmed there was nobody inside the van and extinguished the blaze.
Police also attended the scene because the van had been reported as stolen.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said that contact had been made with the owner.
Police are now appealing for anyone with any information to contact 101.
