New lease of life given to ceiling
THE ceiling of Wincanton's town hall has been given a new lease of life following a restoration this week.
Work to carry out repairs to the ceiling of the Kenny Sansom room upstairs in the building began last week and was completed earlier this week.
The work was carried out by Northbrook Contractors.
Town councillor Colin Winder said that the work had been carried out quickly and had given the room a much tidier appearance.
He said: "There was a crack in the ceiling that needed to be seen to and some repair work behind it. There were bits of ceiling paper that had also come adrift.
"All of it was tidied up in a little more than a week.
"It now looks quite reasonable and much cleaner and tidier."
During the renovations, the town council was forced to hold it's fortnightly full meeting and an extraordinary planning meeting – to discuss the proposed development of 47 homes at Bayford Hill – at the district council's offices on Churchfields.
