Homegrown star to top bill at clifftop celebration
Devon acoustic folk hero Ben Howard, dance giants Basement Jaxx and indie pop darlings The Vaccines will be topping the bill at the sound and surf Boardmasters Festival at Newquay this summer.
Their names were announced this week alongside a tempting taster of a fine supporting cast for the annual seaside celebration which this year runs from August 7 to 11, and introduces a third night of music at the clifftop festival, held at Watergate Bay.

Diversity is the name of the game at Boardmasters. Among the first wave of artists confirmed are Manchester bands Everything Everything and Delphic. Both are new to the event and hotly tipped as BBC Sounds of the Year. And there's also a slot for groundbreaking American artist Grandmaster Flash – the first hip hop act to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – who is making his first trip to Cornwall.
Other bands and solo performers confirmed across the festival's multiple stages include The Other Tribe, Little Comets, Clean Bandit and Cosmo Jarvis. For dance fans, the list includes Dusky, T Williams, Bondax, Gorgon City, Monki, Maribou City, Panda and Eton Messy.
Tickets are now on sale via the festival's website.
