High tech hunt on Avalon Marshes
UNEARTH the secrets of the Avalon Marshes by taking part in a high tech treasure hunt.
New geocaches are hidden on the Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Westhay Moor, waiting to be discovered. The Avalon Marshes Landscape Partnership team has been working with volunteers to set-up new geocaches in readiness for a half-term hunt.
Geocaching is an outdoor activity for all ages, taking place all over the world in rural and urban areas. It involves using a GPS device or smartphone to hide and find containers called geocaches or caches.
Friday, October 25 will see the launch of free downloadable activities linked to the Westhay Moor caches on the Avalon Marshes website (www.avalonmarshes.org) and on Friday, November 1 there will be the opportunity to hire GPS devices from the Avalon Marshes Centre on Shapwick Road, Westhay.
