Shepton Mallet 163 for 6 beat Midsomer Norton 4ths 104 all out by 59 runs

The final home game of the season saw Shepton sign off with a 59-run win against Midsomer Norton 4ths.

Put into bat first on a slow pitch, Shepton scored at a steady pace to set a good target of 163.

Denis Culpin top scored with 42 until he was eventually bowled in the 36th over. This was his highest score of the season and included a rare six.

Kieran Thick batted well for his 29, which included some verbal sparring with Midsomer Norton's best bowler, J Gullock (2-10).

The total was 134 from 37 as Richard Black and Tom Allen came to the crease and aggressively attacked the total. Black hit two sixes in a not out 26 from 13 balls.

James Millward (2-15) and Ben Futcher (1-6) applied early pressure as Norton struggled to make runs. Tom Beck (0-14) and Kieran Thick (0-13) both impressed, but it was Wayne Higgins (4-21) and Liam Black (3-29) who took the remaining seven wickets, Higgins narrowly missing a five-wicket haul.

Norton did well to last all 40 overs as Futcher took the final wicket with the last ball of the innings.
