Young musicians from across the West will study surrounded by one of the region’s most beautiful gardens thanks to a new link between the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Hestercombe Gardens Trust.

The Trust, founded in 1997 to safeguard the buildings and Grade I gardens at Hestercombe, near Taunton, is now taking over Hestercombe House from Somerset County Council.

Hestercombe Centre for Young Musicians will offer high quality music teaching for children from all over the South West up to the age of 18.

The initiative was launched on Saturday with a concert in which senior and junior school students performed. A piano trio from the Centre for Young Musicians also took part as did singer songwriter James Aldridge.
