Glastonbury and Street Lions Club has given a boost to the Surviving Winter campaign.

The fund was set up to help people across the county struggling with the effects of the cold and flooding.

The Lions Club of Street and Glastonbury has donated £500 towards the fund.

Justin Sargent, chief executive of the Somerset Community Foundation (SCF), which administers the Surviving Winter programme, attended a meeting of the Lions Club of Glastonbury and Street to accept a grant of £500 towards the Surviving Winter fund.

A spokesman for Glastonbury and Street Lions, David Atkins, said: "In the light of the flooding in Somerset in recent months the club felt that it wanted to provide support in some small way to those affected and the most effective route was to channel the donation through the SCF."
