Hedge-layers gather at Shepton Mallet
The Mid-Somerset Agricultural Show’s popular annual Hedge Laying competition takes place on Sunday.
Hedge Laying amateurs and professionals will compete in the ancient art of hedge-laying at Beard Hill Farm on Cannards Grave Road in Shepton Mallet from 10am by kind permission of the Snelgrove family.
The competition, was always a popular feature of the show until it died out more than 30 years ago.
It was successfully revived two years ago by Pilton farmer Roger Noble and a good turn-pout of competitors and spectators are anticipated.
Enjoy one free child admission with a full paying adult ticket.

Preparations are well under way for 2013 Mid Somerset Show – the 161st – which takes place on Sunday, August 18.
There will be a revised layout to provide more trade stand space, a second shopping tent. The Dog Show is moving back to the Upper Show Field.
And the popular Wurzels will once again be topping the entertainment bill.
