Heavy snow forecast sees Somerset severe weather warning upgraded
The Met Office has upgraded today's severe weather warning of snow in Somerset.
Forecasters are becoming increasingly confident that the region could be hit by heavy snowfall this afternoon and this evening.

With up to 10cm predicted to fall, the Met Office has put Somerset on amber alert from 1.45pm today until 9am tomorrow morning.
Outbreaks of sleet or snow are expected to affect the South West this afternoon.

"Where rain or sleet is currently falling, this is expected to turn increasingly to snow during this afternoon and evening, even at low levels," said the Met Office in its latest warning.
"Some 2cm to 5 cm of snow is likely in places, with 10cm or more within the amber warning area and on high ground.
"This could be heavy and fall in a short period of time, perhaps just a few hours. The risk extends towards the northeast of the warning area later in the period and persists overnight."
