Head hails efforts of students
Kings School in Bruton has achieved its best A-level results in recent memory.
Sixteen pupils achieved straight A grades, with four of these pupils achieving straight A*s. Fifteen per cent of all grades awarded to King's pupils were the new top A* grade. Of all the grades, 74 per cent were A-B and 89 per cent were A-C with a 100 per cent pass rate.

Head teacher Ian Wilmshurst said: "At the start of the year I set the Upper Sixth a target of 60 per cent A-B grades and I am thrilled that they have exceeded this by such a large margin; indeed, the 74 per cent A-B is 12 per cent higher than has ever been achieved at King's before in any previous recorded year.
"The pupils deserve credit for such an outstanding set of results, but I am also very grateful to all the academic staff at King's for their dedication and expertise in helping the Upper Sixth do so well.
"Their achievement will take King's well up the performance league tables and the leavers of 2010 have set a very high benchmark and they have a bright future ahead of them".
