Hayesdown School pupils thank air ambulance for helping their friend
PUPILS from Hayesdown School in Frome collected cash for a cause close to their hearts.
Last summer, pupil Emily Fuller was airlifted to hospital in a Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance after collapsing in the playground.
Thanks to the speedy response from the unit and the treatment she received from medical staff at the scene, Emily made a swift and full recovery.
At a recent Harvest Festival service, children wanted to say a big thank you to the air ambulance. So they decorated envelopes with pictures of helicopters and gave donations in these envelopes to the service.
The donations amounting to £561.82 were then presented to a service volunteer by Emily and her mother, Donna Haberfield.
The service took place at the Wesley Methodist Chapel where the whole school, family and friends attended. The worship was led by Jim and Russell Short from the Clink Evangelical Church.
During the service children read harvest poems and prayers and also sang traditional and modern Harvest hymns.
