Gym burglars steal charity boxes in Shepton Mallet raid
Police are investigating a break-in at the Revolution Health and Fitness Gym in Shepton Mallet's Town Street on Saturday night.
Residents and police were alerted when alarms at the gym went off just after 7.30pm.
Shepton's beat team manager PC Darren Walton said police were at the scene within minutes and witnesses reported two people running to a car parked in the Peter Street service yard behind the gym and making their get away.
It is believed the intruders used a jemmy to lever open the fire doors at the back of the gym and smashed glass.

Gym manager Scott Hurley was at the scene quickly.
He said he thought the alarm must have caused the intruders to flee.
"If we had not had an alarm it could have been much worse," he said.
"They must have just dashed in and taken what they could before fleeing."
The thieves grabbed a few tubs of protein shake mix and also snatched charity boxes from the front counter.
Scott and his staff and customers had been busy collecting donations for the Air Ambulance, Macmillan and a children's charity.
"It's pretty gutting they took those," he said.
Police are studying CCTV footage and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 101. Now Scott and his staff are looking forward to the opening of their new premises in the town when they move the gym to the top floor of the Academy in the town centre on November 12.
