Skittling rivalry was put aside for an evening on Friday when Shepton Mallet teams UB8 and Barmy Army (pictured above) met in the Wells and District League at the Charlton Inn.

All fixtures between the sides now feature the battle for the Gregsy Cup, in memory of former UB8 player Dean Gregory, who died of cancer last year. Friday would have been "Gregsy's" 38th birthday and the Gregsy Cup was presented to the winning captain, Dick Emery, by Dean's wife, Laura. Emery said: "It was a great night and I'm sure Gregsy would have appreciated every minute of it. We also raised more than £80 from the spares kitty, which will be donated to charity." A minute's applause was held at the start of the match, which saw UB8 triumph 413-354.
