Grant for Chilcompton Playgroup
CHILCOMPTON Playgroup for children aged 0-5 has been awarded a grant from Somerset Community Foundation to support its activities.
The funding of £750 will help the group cover the cost of hiring the village hall, buying toys and providing healthy snacks for the children.
Mary Hancock, deputy chief executive at Somerset Community Foundation, said: “The children’s centre provides outreach work for the rurally isolated, lonely or new to the area families.
“As a community foundation, we are really keen to support projects that tackle the issue of rural isolation and for this reason we have chosen to fund the group. This would not have been possible without our Somerset Business Guardians, local businesses who work with us to engage with grassroots organisations, who provide the funding.”

A new committee of parents and carers from the Chilcompton area has taken over the running of the group after previous organisers no longer had the capacity to deliver the activities.
The playgroup, which provides essential support to the families in the local community, meets every Tuesday morning from 10am to noon at Chilcompton Village Hall. Once a month, the centre is attended by a health visitor.
