Gorillas play on with the food of love
These cheeky gorillas were caught on camera monkeying around – with a Valentine's rose.
Komale, an adult, and baby Kukena, both Western Lowland gorillas, were seen playing with the romantic flowers at Bristol Zoo after keepers gave them the much deserved treat. And when they were finished playing each snacked on the Valentine's Day staple, giving them a boost to the essential nutrients they need.
Western Lowland gorillas eat at least 97 different plant species. About 67 per cent of their diet is fruit, 17 per cent is leaves, seeds and stems and three per cent are termites and caterpillars.
