Godney Gathering headline acts ready to rock this summer
The Subways, The Hoosiers and StringerBessant will headline at this summer's Godney Gathering.
The event will take place on July 21, following the success of last-year's sell-out which saw 4,000 people descend on the village for an evening of live music.
The Subways have built up a loyal, cult following on the festival circuit, with regular slots at Glastonbury, Leeds and Reading.
The Hoosiers claim to have invented "odd pop" and are probably best known for two-times platinum album The Trick of Life, which produced singles Worried About Ray and Goodbye Mr A.
StringerBessant return to Godney for a second year. Gary Stringer and Jack Bessant are best known as the singer and bass player in Reef. The duo are more mellow than Reef, playing a gentle, ethereal line in folk-inspired acoustic album music.
Support acts will include Manchester's The Rainband, Goldray – which includes Reef guitarist Kenwyn House – and Young Aviators.
Mike Daniels, one of the organisers, said he was thrilled with this year's acts.
"Things went so well last year that we couldn't wait to get started on this year's line-up," he said. "It's a really good-quality line-up – a mix of pure rock and gentle, acoustic music – it should be a really good night."
Once again, residents have the chance to get their hands on tickets before anyone else, with early bird tickets on sale from March 1, costing £16. Tickets will then go on general release on April 1, for £20.
"We think this event will bring together like-minded individuals from across the country for a celebration of pure music and entertainment without any of the pressure and aggression that sometimes occurs at bigger events," said Mr Daniels.
"We're hoping the gathering will continue to go from strength to strength in the future and become one of the most important dates of the live music scene in this area."
