MID-SOMERSET LEAGUE In-form striker Tom Peilasz bagged a brace as Tunley Athletic Reserves put up a brave fight against higher-league Shepton Mallet A in the Mid-Somerset Charity Cup.

David Fairweather was also on target in a narrow 4-3 defeat for Tunley, who entertain Wells City B in the Wilmott Cup on Saturday (1.45pm).

There were also seven goals in the Charity Cup match between Frome Collegians Reserves and Welton Arsenal, although all of them went to the visitors in a one-sided affair.

Farrington Gurney Reserves bowed out of the competition after an extraordinary tie at Tor Leisure, which finished 5-5 after extra-time before the hosts went through 4-1 on penalties.

Another high-scoring game saw Coleford Athletic win 7-5 at Belrose in the Premier Division but the reserves shipped five unanswered goals during a heavy Division 1 defeat at table-topping Pensford.

Purnell Sports A moved up to fifth in the table with a comfortable 3-0 away win over rock-bottom Timsbury Athletic Reserves.

Camerton Athletic are the new leaders of Division 2 following their 3-2 win over Peasedown Athletic Reserves, coupled with a 6-4 setback at Chilcompton Sports Reserves for previous table-toppers Clutton Reserves.

Meadow Rangers Reserves picked up a useful point by holding High Littleton to a goalless draw but fellow strugglers Radstock Town A crashed to an 8-0 home defeat against Westfield A.

Pensford Reserves also found themselves on the wrong end of a 7-0 defeat against Westhill Sports in Division 3, while Chilcompton United and Stoke Rovers Reserves played out a 3-3 draw.

Honours were also even between Chew Magna Reserves and Belrose Reserves, who drew 1-1.
