GILLINGHAM Town required a replay to settle their FA Cup First Round Qualifying tie with Taunton Town following a 0-0 draw in the competition on Saturday.

The Dorset hosts had numerous opportunities to defeat their Evo Stik Southern Football League Division One South and West opponents but were unable to find a winning goal, leading to Tuesday's rematch.

Toolstation Western League Gills' manager Adrian Foster was delighted with the way his side matched up to Taunton and believes it demonstrated the team's progression.

He said: "We played very well and to be honest we should have won. Taunton had a lot of the play but we had all the clear cut chances and we could have been three or four goals up at the half and we probably should have been.

"It was nice not to concede against them and it was even better that we managed to cause them so many problems, and on another day we could have won it. I am just pleased that the hard work we have put in has paid off so far.

"We have worked hard to build a team which would be capable of getting promotion and so far we have done well against the teams we have come up against. We just need to take each game as it comes and keep trying to progress as a club."

Gillingham are again in cup action this weekend, taking on Premier Division rivals Street in the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round.
