Giant orchid proves a big Writhlington School festival
Writhlington School's giant orchid stole the show at its own autumn orchid festival.
The giant was named best in show after wowing judges who were impressed by the huge bloom.
The monster is so big it had to be carried by six teenagers and suspended by a full scaffolding system during the festival.
The Coelogyne fimbriata has been at the school since 1992 and in the last two years has trebled in size.

The Writhlington Autumn Orchid Festival provided a riot of exotic colours and scents for visitors to the event.
Orchid displays from across the UK and trade plants from a German nursery filled the main show hall while Writhlington's own orchid houses provided the chance to see beautiful plants grown to perfection.
Teacher Simon Pugh-Jones – who was awarded an MBE for his work developing the horticultural expertise of children at the school – described the event as a real success.
He said: "It was terrific to have so many visitors, I was very proud of the work and dedication put in by my students and volunteers."
Three of Writhlington's own orchid experts are now training to be national judges and Jacob, 14, Tom, 15, and Zoe, 17, are not surprisingly the youngest judges in the training scheme.
The next orchid event at Writhlington is Orchid Christmas, which will run from 6.30pm to 9pm on Thursday, December 12.
