German guests enjoy the local hospitality
PUPILS from Holyrood Academy in Chard have been hosting their German counterparts this week.
A total of 30 students from the Julianum Grammar School in Helmstedt enjoyed a six-day exchange visit in Chard.
The group left Helmstedt on Tuesday, September 11, and spent two days sightseeing in London before arriving in Chard on the evening of September 13.
The Germans have been staying with students from Holyrood Academy in years eight to 11.

They enjoyed a weekend of activities with their host families ranging from bowling, visits to local attractions, the coast, and a trip to Axminster Carnival on Saturday night.
The youngsters were greeted upon arrival by the mayor of Chard, Cathie Morrison.
The also enjoyed further group excursions to Chard Museum, to Bath, and a fossil walk on the beach in Charmouth.
The German exchange students returned to Germany yesterday after a farewell party at the Academy on Tuesday evening.
