Gary Johnson: Away support at Leyton Orient a 'big bonus' for Yeovil Town
Yeovil Town’s next generation of heroes are “just starting to step forward” according to their manager ahead of one of the club’s biggest games in recent seasons.
The Glovers are without a match today, with original opposition MK Dons still involved in the FA Cup. However, they travel to Leyton Orient on Tuesday for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area semi-final.

Johnson’s men are now just three victories away from a Wembley final and head to the capital on the back of a 3-0 defeat of their opponents in a New Year’s Day npower League One encounter.
The boss admitted his team would face a sterner test in the capital but added the players were on the cusp of achieving similar status amongst fans as those that helped guide Yeovil to the FA Trophy and then Football League.

“It’s massive,” said Johnson. “We are three wins away from Wembley. The next game would be an area final if we can beat Leyton Orient up there, which is not a forgone conclusion.
“The fact that we will take all the supporters down to Leyton Orient is going to be a big bonus. New Year’s Day was quiet, everybody probably had a party the night before and were probably all asleep. But we got them a result and it will be a different kettle of fish when we have got our 600-700 fans there.
“We have got to get the club going again and try to get the gates of 5,000, 6,000 or even 7,000 that we used to. We need to win games like next week and get to Wembley.
“If we get to Wembley we have got to win the trophy. All of sudden the players are then heroes again, household names in the area again and that is what we have tried to build. The players are just starting to step forward.”
At least eight free coaches will take supporters to the Matchroom Stadium as Johnson’s initiative to fill the away section proves increasingly popular.
Each bus has been individually sponsored, with Johnson, chairman John Fry, co-owner Norman Hayward, the club’s vice-presidents, director Ron Budden, the team and Radio Cabs backing one each.
Travel arrangements are being co-ordinated by the Green and White Supporters Club and every ticket for the match sold from Huish Park is accompanied by a slip entitling the ticket holder to a seat on a coach.
