Fundraiser delighted by local generosity
Paul Sage from Wells, who was left seriously disabled after being hit by a car in 1998, and his daughter, Morgan, have handed over £1,206 raised for good causes by taking part in the city's carnival procession.
Mr Sage lost a leg, had his pelvis shattered and his left arm smashed when a speeding car hit him and Michelle Wilkinson as they waited by their own broken down car in August 1998.

The crash also left Michelle with permanent nerve injuries after being trapped under the car. She still suffers every day with severe pain and has to use her crutches most of the time.
For the past four years Paul and Morgan, who was four months old at the time of the accident, have taken part in Wells Carnival in an effort to raise money for worthy causes.
Mr Sage said: "Every year I have been in my wheelchair, pulling a decorated float around behind me. Each year the float has got bigger. Last year the theme was slightly different as a friend's daughter, Charlotte, went on the float and Morgan and friends Rebecca Ransome and Katie Cooke dressed in Christmas outfits and danced behind the float.
"Over the past four years we have tried to raise money and always make sure one of the causes is Frenchay Hospital accident and emergency department, which saved my life."
In 2008 money was also raised for Children's Hospice South West and Dorothy House Hospice in Bradford- on-Avon.
Paul said: We would like to say a big thank you to every person who was kind enough to donate some money, no matter how small. Also a big thank you goes to the Venue Club and EMI Club in Wells and their customers who were very generous.
"There is an extra big thank you to Kevin Bond of Somerlap and some of his workforce who donated a sizeable amount to our causes and also some of the workforce of Ken Biggs Contractors.
"Both Morgan and myself were delighted with everybody's generosity."
