Frys 3rd 0 Shepton Mallet 2nd 5

Shepton Mallet produced a five-star display as they came away from Frys with a big win.

Following the two sides' last meeting, when Frys did not travel with a goalkeeper, this time they were out in force, meaning Shepton had to take the bull by the horns early on.

They were the dominant side from the outset, though, commanding in attack through Burt, Ceccini, Legg and Duchezeau.

The midfield of Fry, Fry, Legg, Frost and Knowles pressurised any Frys forays, giving the Shepton back-line of Green, Thorner and Squire little to do.

There was no way though for the hosts either for the bulk of the first half, with the visiting stopper keeping Shepton at bay before a defensive error saw the hosts awarded a penalty flick. Burt converted it to break the deadlock.

This was proved the turning point in the match and Knowles soon added Shepton's second from a penalty corner, closely followed by a strike from Ceccini, whose effort gave the hosts a 3-0 lead at the break.

Burt bagged her second goal of the game as the second half got under way and Shepton's confidence continued to swell.

Even the back-line were on the attack, with Green and Squire having attempts at goal before Thorner completed the rout, touching against the backboards.

Phillips Tyres player of the match: Knowles.
