The newly discovered Frozen Deep in Cheddar Gorge has is officially Britain’s biggest cave.

Presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff, from BCC’s The One Show revealed Frozen Deep was 2,981 sq m via a computer generated analysis which dwarfs former title holder Gaping Gill in Yorkshire by 252sq m.

Frozen Deep was found early last month by the six-person Tuesday Diggers after a four-year hunt.

The BBC programme managed to get cameras into the cave for short film on Frozen Deep which was aired just over a week ago.
