Frome dog at centre of RSPCA investigation latest
A puppy that was at the centre of an RSPCA investigation following allegations it had been repeatedly thrown into the River Frome has been returned to its owner.
The incident is said to have taken place at the Button Bridge, in the Market Yard car park, in August when a group of young people witnessed a man throwing the female puppy, which was 12-weeks-old at the time, into the river and then pulling her out again several times.
Police confirmed the incident at the time and the RSPCA took the puppy away while an investigation was on going.
The investigation has now been concluded.
An RSPCA spokeswoman said: "An RSPCA inspector has spoken to the dog's owners and he has agreed to look after the dog responsibly from now on. Obviously, if that changes we will consider further action against him. The dog has been returned to the family.
