Frome Town had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw against Bashley in the Premier Division of the Evo-Stik Southern League.

Only an excellent save from Darren Chitty foiled the visitors’ Mark Gamble early on.

In the 32nd minute, a volley from Matt Smith brought an excellent save from Stuart Moore in the Bashley goal.

Frome were slow to start the second half, but they took the lead in the 53rd-minute as Mike Perrott slipped a good through ball into the path of Gilroy and the striker coolly slotted the ball under Moore.

Bashley equalised on 70 minutes when Tom Evans brought down Rob Gradwell in the box and Gamble had no problems beating Chitty from the penalty spot.

Neither side could find a winner thereafter.
