With 17 places and 18 points separating the two sides in the Premier Division of the Evo-Stik Southern League, Frome Town were always going to have their work cut out to bring anything away from title-favourites Leamington.

Despite a spirited display, it proved that way as Leamington grabbed two early goals and showed their class by closing the match down and running out comfortable 2-0 winners.

A bright start by Frome saw them take the game to the hosts, but the 11th minute saw the first attack from the home side lead to a goal as Richard Batchelor set himself for an overhead kick from a corner as his perfect shot flew into the top corner.

The lead was doubled five minutes later as a second corner from Lee Moore was headed home powerfully by Liam Daley and Frome had a mountain to climb.

To their credit, the visitors carried on working hard and taking the game to the hosts, but the final ball was never quite there and Leamington looked unlikely to concede a goal and finished comfortable winners.

Frome are away to Gosport tomorrow evening (7.45pm).
