Frome College: Doors open to next pupils
ON SEPTEMBER 19 Frome College held the annual open evening. It consisted of future students and their parents being toured around the school and encouraged to take part in a variety of activities held by staff in their subjects.
Around the school there were a variety of music acts playing group or solo performances, which definitely showed off the music department and the talent at college.
There was also a range of fitness activities held by the PE department including boxing.
Food technology was a huge success as they offered free food, ranging from samosas to curry and rice – and no one can refuse delicious free food.

Science had two rooms full of activities which even the parents enjoyed taking part in.
All subjects were based around the school with staff ready to show off why their department is so good.
The English department thought of a simple, calming but fun thing to do. They started a book wall, which consists of students or parents writing down their favourite book on to a piece of card and sticking it to the wall.
I have never seen something like that done before and it was very interesting to read all of the cards. I believe I wrote The Host as mine and when asked why, I just wrote "It's my life'" – a bit dramatic, but it is an amazing book.
A man who I toured around the site loved the book wall but took almost ten minutes to think of his favourite book. After scribbling out a few ideas he finally choose the all-time classic Harry Potter, which was already on the wall more than once, surprise, surprise!
