Friday school closures already announced due to Somerset snow forecast
School closures are expected across Somerset tomorrow as the region braces itself for heavy snowfall.
Norton Radstock College has already taken the decision to close its doors to students on Friday due to the forecast and Met Office severe weather warning in place.
Sexey's School in Bruton has also announced it will close tomorrow, as has Oldfield School in Bath.
This evening, Friday closures have also been confirmed at Chew Valley School, and at St Michaels CofE Junior School and Twerton Infant School in Bath.
Yeovil College has announced that all campuses will be closed tomorrow, including UCY, Lufton, Bridport and Shaftesbury - except for students taking exams.
Other major Somerset schools including Strode College and Wells Blue School say they intend to stay open, but are monitoring the situation closely and will make an official announcement tomorrow morning.
Dozens more schools across Somerset are expected to make similar announcements before 7am tomorrow.
At King's College Taunton, head master Richard Biggs advised for pupils who are sitting exams tomorrow morning to try and arrange boarding at the school tonight.
"The boards will not allow an exam to be taken at any other time in this particular season and if your son or daughter misses an exam they will have to wait until the summer to have another go at it," said Mr Biggs.
"Please note that in every case there will be another chance in the summer, so if your son or daughter does miss an exam tomorrow all is not lost.
"But perhaps caution is the best policy and spending the night here may be a good idea."
