Free show heralded as Europe's biggest
The Mid Somerset Show is heralded as Europe's largest free one-day agricultural show.
Preparations are in full swing for this year's fun day out for all the family which takes place at the Showground site off Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet on Sunday.
The Wurzels are among the star attractions of the show. Their performance is at 4.30pm in the top field and they will be performing their new single Ruby taken from their new album A Load More Bullocks.
The region's best livestock will be on parade with hundreds of horses, cattle, sheep and pigs competing in various classes.
And the event now boasts one of the largest pig shows in the country. There is a dog show, as well as classes for a huge range of cheeses and ciders, tents filled with flowers, crafts, food and artwork, a host of countryside activities, vintage vehicles and dozens of trade stands offering a major shopping experience from tractors to designer clothes.
The heritage tent, showing the history of Shepton Mallet and the show is also always a firm favourite for visitors.
The gates open at 8am and there is free admission for everyone walking into the site, or parking costs £7 a vehicle.
The first classes of the day start at 9am
Sponsors of this year's show include J H Haskins and Son Ltd, Barber's Farmhouse Cheesemakers, Blackthorn, Commercial Recycling Ltd, North Downs Dairy Co Ltd, and North Downs Dairy Co Ltd.
