Franks Restaurant of The Bays, Cheddar, turns ten years old
A Cheddar restaurant has turned veteran today by marking its first decade in business.
It was the dream of Frank and Sue Farrell to open their own place in The Bays, Cheddar Gorge, back in 2003. Ten years on and the dream is still going strong.

Frank and Sue Farrell
Classically trained and well travelled Frank, 49, said: “We have just carried on with the same sort of things and the formula – whatever it is – seems to work.
“We have scaled down a little so it is just me and Sue and use casual staff when we need them. As we get older we don’t want to be about money.”

Before opening Franks, the restaurateur cooked at the Rodney Stoke Inn, was head chef at the Flute de Paris in Weston-super-Mare and cooked on cruise liners in Miami and the Caribbean. All this started after seven years’ service in the Royal Navy where he catered for many Royal family members, including Princess Diana.
