Yeovil manager Gary Johnson could scour the loan market to cover for injuries to an experienced duo – but faces a race against time to complete signings for Tuesday.

Striker James Hayter and captain Jamie McAllister are unlikely to be fit to face Colchester after failing to complete Saturday's 1-1 League One draw with Doncaster.

Hayter left the pitch by stretcher after kicking the underside of an opponent's boot and McAllister landed awkwardly on his ankle.

Johnson is yet to discover the expected length of their respective absences, but was already thinking of how to temporarily replace them.

"We will have to look at it, that's for sure and we have left places to do that sort of thing (sign loanees)," said Johnson.

"Whether we have got time to do it before Tuesday is another thing, but we are going to have to work hard in the next couple of days to see what is available right now.

"We have sort of got enough to start the game and have three substitutes. We knew this was going to happen at some stage.

"Jamie was on nine bookings and I so wanted him to push the referee on his way off and get a booking so could miss those games when he was inured, but I couldn't quite get the message out to him.

"That would have been clever, but it didn't happen and unfortunately he is going to miss a couple injured."

Johnson added the coming days could also be crucial in the futures of Crystal Palace loanee Kwesi Appiah and Reuben Reid, who soon ends a month at Plymouth Argyle.

Adding Hayter's injury could play a part in a decision on Appiah, Johnson said: "We have just got to have a chat on the bus (travelling back from Doncaster) and tomorrow (Sunday) and see what our options are. Reuben doesn't end until Tuesday and Kwesi isn't until Saturday, so we have still got a little bit of time to think about those decisions."
