UPDATED: Flood alerts for Somerset following downpours
Two flood alerts have been issued for Somerset following torrential rain and the forecast of further downpours.
The Environment Agency warnings, which mean flooding is possible and residents should be prepared, are for:
-

South East Somerset rivers, upper reaches, including Upper River Yeo and Rivers Cam and Wriggle;
Somerset coast at Porlock Weir, specifically coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point including Porlock Weir.

One existing flood warning remains at Curry Moor and Hay Moor, which has been in force since November.
UPDATE (1.45pm):
The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning, indicating flooding is expected and immediate action is required, for the River Axe (Upper) from Winsham to Axminster, including Chard Junction and Weycroft.
There is also a new flood alert for West Somerset Streams, including Horner Water, Rivers Aller and Washford, and the Hawkcombe, Monksilver and Doniford Streams and tributaries.
UPDATE (4.30pm):
In the last half hour, a new flood alert has been issued for South Somerset rivers, upper reaches, including the Rivers Parrett and Isle and tributaries.
The Environment Agency says the Parrett at Chiselborough and Gawbridge are rising.
