Flo, 82, and 86-year-old Jim have raised more than £160,000 for charity over the past two decades.

The couple have laid down on a bed of nails, raced down hills in shopping trolleys, jumped through burning hoops and abseiled an eight-storey hospital tower, all in aid of great causes.

Yeovil District Hospital, St Margaret's Hospice, Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital and the PDSA are just some of the charities which have gained support from Flo and Jim over the years.

"Most recently they've scaled a 25ft climbing wall, despite Flo's fear of heights, and competed in triathlons," said a Pride of Britain Awards spokesman.

"Earlier this year the caring couple donated their holiday money to help pay for a baby heart monitor at Yeovil District Hospital.

"They had to cancel a planned coach trip due to illness, and instead handed over a cheque for the £1,000 they had saved up."
